Keep on learning - Saskatoon photographer

This year it was my goal to learn how to use off camera flash.  I called up one of my photographer friends, David Stobbe, who is amazing at using off camera flash, and asked if he would show me how.  He suggested we get together a few photographers and have fun with it, so we did!  I asked my gorgeous sister in law to model for us, and here are a few images from our little learning session.  Thanks again Dave for helping us out!

Princess sessions are here! - Saskatoon Photographer

We have set a date for our limited edition princess sessions:  Saturday, November 15, 2014.  To say I'm excited is an understatement!  So what's the deal with our princess sessions?  I'm glad you asked.  I've put together a list of FAQ that should answer all of your questions about how our princess sessions work.

What age are these sessions for?
6 months (baby must be sitting on their own), to 7 years old.

What should I bring?
We ask that you bring along a white, pink or black t-shirt, tank top or body suit, as well as leggings or tights.  We supply all of the accessories to transform your little princess: The tutus, headbands, crowns, and jewelry.  Your princess will have two outfit changes and will be photographed on two different sets.

I'm not available on November 15, could we do it another day?
Unfortunately, these sessions are only offered for one day only.

How much are the sessions and what is included?
The session fee is $99 (plus taxes) and includes a 25 minute session as well as a free framed 5x7 print.  We have also created some custom packages that can be ordered if you wish.  Some of the things included in our packages include a 4x6 faux leather brag book, 2 lockets (one for the princess and one for her queen), as well as digital files.  Packages start at $249.  We will also have some a la carte products available.

Where are the princess sessions done?
The princess sessions are done in our home studio, here in Saskatoon.  (Lakeview area)

What do I need to do to book?
We require the full session fee to reserve your timeslot ($99).  All session fees are non refundable in the event of no shows or cancellations.

What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept, cash, cheque, Visa, MasterCard.

Will my order be ready by Christmas?
Yes!  These make great Christmas gifts:).

If I want to order a package, when do I order?
We do all ordering immediately following the session.  All of the images in the packages are the photographers choice.  Not to worry, the photographer has a ton of experience in what poses/expressions moms like best, as she is a mom herself!  She will only choose the best images from your session.  Please note you are not obligated to order anything beyond your free 5x7 framed print that comes with the session.

I have 2 (or more) princesses, can they combine their session?
Please contact us to discuss our options for sister princesses.

How do I book?
Email Mandy:  memoriesbymandy@shaw.ca to book your appointment.  Spaces are limited.

Thankful - Saskatoon photographer

I always love thanksgiving.  It always give us a chance to reflect on the things in life we are thankful for.  This year, I'm thankful for the big belly laughs that come from my kids when I tickle them.  I'm thankful for the killer breakfast my husband makes me almost every single weekend.  For the sun on my face on a cool fall day, for the new home we were fortunate enough to move into this year, for my dog who is more excited to see me when I walk through the door than anyone else in the world.  I'm thankful for my family who cares for my children to allow me to do what I love.  For being able to feel safe in my home/neighborhood/city, as not everyone is as fortunate to live in a place like Canada.

Lastly, I'm thankful for all of the amazing people who have graced my camera.  I'm thankful to have met every single one of you and document a moment in your lives, whether it be your first kiss as husband and wife, your newest addition in the first weeks of their lives, the big pout on your childs (or husbands;)) face, and everything in between.  I feel like each and every year I become more thankful for each and everyone of you.  Because I know that without you, I would not be able to put my kids in swimming lessons, or show up to a birthday party with a gift in hand, or be at home with my kids more often (and you also give me the much needed break from them, that makes me a better mom).  Because of you, I have your session to look forward to, I have made new friends, I have been able to give you confidence, and perhaps make you see a side of yourself that you have never seen.  Because of you, I am living my dream, doing something that makes me happy beyond belief.  You have all touched me a way that you will never know.  Thank you!

I leave you with an out take from my family session a few weeks ago.

Bittersweet grad session - Saskatoon grad photographer

OH boy, it has been a while since I've posted.  It hasn't been a lack of shooting, in fact, it's just the opposite!  I've been working my buns off shooting and editing for the last few months.  I thought I would take a break from all of it and share a grad session I shot back in June, which I can't believe I haven't posted yet!

I photographed the brothers grad a few years ago and they booked me last year around this time, as soon as they found out when grad day was for their youngest child.  Of course, I was so excited to photograph the baby of the family all grown up and graduating high school.  It was a little bittersweet for the family and for me.  It has been so awesome getting to know the whole family and getting together with them again to capture this special time.  Lets just say I had to supply some Kleenex at the ordering session:).  I just hope I have the pleasure of capturing their weddings, when the time comes.  No rush, of course;).
