A snowy session - Saskatoon photographers

I photographed this trio on a very snowy day.  Crystal is a photographer herself and does amazing work (Joi photography), so I was very flattered when she asked me to photograph her family.  It was a little chilly out that day, but the snow made it so worth being out there.  It made me want to get my own family photographed that day it was so pretty (although I'm not sure my kids (little girl and pup) would be so well behaved:)).

Exciting news.... - Saskatoon photographer

I (Mandy) am so happy to officially announce that my little family will be growing again in the new year!  A little baby will be joining our family in March or April.  We originally thought our due date was the end of April, however after going for our ultrasound we found out were a month sooner than expected.  My new due date is March 31st.  My husband and I are so excited!  My daughter still has no idea what is going on, lol.

This spring I will be taking a few months off, with very limited bookings over the summer months.  If you are interested in getting some family photos done this summer, please email me so I can get you on the list when we start to book.  Our spring, June and July are fully booked for weddings, however we still have August, September and into the fall and winter dates still available.  I can't wait!

So here is our ultrasound photo.  The little one is 23 weeks along here.  What do you think were having, a little boy or a girl?  I've thought it's been both, so I have no idea!

Getting personal - Saskatoon photographers

So I've been wanting to do a personal post for awhile, but life gets busy and it gets put on the back burner.  Today, my little one is napping and I do have some other things to do, but this is taking priority:).

A little shy of 16 months ago I never knew how much life would change.  Giving birth to my beautiful baby girl has been the most life altering, yet rewarding experience of my life.  Motherhood is in full force.  My days have been taken over by play dates, outings to kids events and doing anything kid related.  Cleaning up toys and books off the floor is a daily ritual.  I often find small pleasures in going out alone, even if it's just to grocery store.  Who would have thought that going to the grocery store would be such a 'treat'? lol.

It has been the hardest, yet most rewarding thing in my life.  Because of this, I haven't been shooting as much as I have in past years.  I have finally found a perfect balance between work and my personal life.  With that being said, I have been shooting some, but dates are booking up a little quicker than in the past.  Family photography and wedding photography are the two types of photography that I will be mostly focusing on.  Although we do take on the odd other shoot if time permits:).

I love to photograph little ones and their families.  My all time favorite shots are the moment shots and not the 'looking at the camera and smiling' shots.  You will see these types of images blown up large in my home.  They are the types of images that will never go out of style, and truly show the personalities of the subjects.

My daughter is definitely inherited my love for creating art.  She is always pointing at pictures on the walls.  Even at other peoples homes, she always notices other peoples pictures up on their walls.  It's really sweet!  When we re-do her room, most of one wall will be taken up with photos of all the people that love her.  I know that she will love it!  I'm really looking forward to doing it up for her.  And yes, I will be sure to post pictures of it when it's all done:).

Well it sounds like the little peanut is waking up, so I should run!  Thanks for stopping by my blog and seeing what's new with us!  We really appreciate it!

watching families grow - Saskatoon photography

This family has been in front of my camera pretty much since I started Memories by Mandy 5 years ago.  I love to watch families grow and see the kids grow up before my eyes.  I had a lot of fun chasing this family around all morning:).  I already can't wait to get them in front of my camera again!

Thanksgiving weekend - Saskatoon photographer

This last weekend was thanksgiving.  I always love this holiday as it gives us a chance to reflect on all of the things that we're thankful for.  We always get together with family, which is another reason why I love this holiday so much.  This year, I'm thankful for the usual things, such as my health, my family and my friends.  I couldn't ask for anything better in these three aspects in my life.

One of the things I would really like to focus on this year, is being thankful for all of the people who allow me to capture them, and allow me to do something that I'm absolutely passionate about, my clients.  This year I've revamped my business model and spend much more time with my clients, from having them to my home studio for a consultation, and really getting to know them, to photographing them, to having them back at the studio for their ordering session.  To watch them view their images for the first time is something so rewarding for me, and has helped me grow as a photographer in an unimaginable way.

This last year, as it has been with previous years, I've met some really wonderful people.  I honestly can't thank each and everyone enough for trusting me in capturing them weather it be their first kiss as husband and wife or their annual family portrait, or maybe their first ever family portrait.  It has truly been an honor getting to know you and having you in front of my lens.  Without you, I would not be where I am today.  I am forever greatful for each and everyone of you!

This image was from a recent shoot I did with my little girl.  She's growing so much.  I'm also so thankful for her and all of the joy she brings into my life.  I feel so blessed to have such an amazing child!  She means the world to me, I can't even remember what life was like before her.

Hope you all had a great long weekend and were able to reflect on all of the things you were thankful for.

A fairytale wedding - Saskatoon photographers

This year I didn't take on very many weddings, so the weddings that I did photograph were my favorites to date.  This one is no exception.  Sometimes I wish I could just share the entire wedding, but I've got a feeling that you don't have hours and hours to sit on my blog:).

This fairytale wedding was out at the Cedar Lodge on Blackstrap lake here in Saskatchewan.  They were calling for 90% chance of rain the day before, so needless to say, I was expecting to be doing most of the shoot with umbrellas.  I'm not sure exactly what happened, but the day turned out absolutely beautiful (as I'm sure you can tell by the images)!

It really was a perfect day!  The couple was so laid back and pretty darn easy on the eyes:), the wedding party had so much fun, and the ceremony was like a scene right out of a movie, plus the groom rides a Harley.  What more could I ask for???

The first look!

Here I am on a strangers boat to get the following shot.  Thanks to my second shooter for capturing this for me!

This little bunny hopped in on our formals.  Seriously, it doesn't get much cuter than this!

OK, maybe it does.....

The couple did a very unique variation of the sand ceremony or unity candle.  The painted a canvas blending the two colors of paint.  How cool is that???
