I think the thought of eloping crosses every engaged couples mind at least once during the wedding planning process. This couple did just that in BC. They wanted some photos in their wedding gear a little closer to home. While doing the session, we spotted some unusual wedding 'guests' that day, and got some unique images for them:).

10 pounds lighter - Saskatoon photography
I always say never trust a photographer who never gets in front of the camera themselves. It's like going to a dentist who has never been to the dentist, lol, OK, maybe not the best analogy, but you get the picture;).
For me, photography is essential. I like to get in front of the camera at least once a year. I think it's important to have myself documented WITH my family, as I'm always the one behind the camera (I think most moms can relate). I think it's important that my kids have these images to look back on when they are my age. As a kid, I think our only family portrait was done at Sears before my first birthday. Then again when my brother, 4 years my senior, graduated high school. While we have more snapshots of us growing up, I'm not sure my mom was in any of them. I want to change this for my own family.
I've heard it said many times, including coming from my own lips. "I want to wait until I loose a few pounds before I book a session". Don't wait! Your kids don't care if you are 10, 20 or 50 pounds lighter when looking back at the images they have with you. They care that they have the memories to look back on. Images of them with their mother, the love that was shared, the bond that was there. That is all that matters. Please don't wait to book your session, because before you know it, your little ones will be off to college and the session you kept putting off never happened. Have no regrets because those 10 pounds never came off. There will always be something we are self conscious about, I think that is completely normal. Don't let your self doubt rob you of these memories. Your kids will thank you for it a million times over.
Here are a few images of my family session back in September, done by the talented Sharee of Umbrella photography here in Saskatoon. I'm so so happy we got these beautiful images done. They are truly memories I will cherish forever:). It's true, I didn't loose those 10 pounds I wanted to before the session, but that doesn't matter. What matters is I now have these beautiful images of myself with my family. Something that my kids will look back on in years to come. Something I can proudly hang on my walls. Something I am forever grateful for.

Then & Now III - Saskatoon photographers
All of these then and now posts are really great for me. I've invested so much time and money into education, photography and my business that looking back at the 'then' and comparing with the 'now' is so rewarding. It's pretty cool to see how far I've come over the last 6+ years.
I have a love for photographing couples. There is something about capturing the love between two people that really excites me! While I was digging through all of my old files, I came across this engagement session. I did get some really great shots of them, but also included some that were like what the *#&$ was I thinking? Like this shot.... I actually included this shot on the disc of images. See what I mean?
And this... I'm not even sure what filter this is in Photoshop, but I'm glad it doesn't get used anymore, lol.
Here is a shot, 5 years later at the same location. I have to admit, I've really come a long way... my Photoshop skills included! haha
I did get some pretty cute shots of these two... thank goodness not all of them were blown out and put through crazy swirly filters. This is a pretty cute shot. I love how casual and natural it feels:).
Although the shot above is nice. The one below takes the cake!

There really is no comparison... the lighting is gorgeous here!

Good timing - Saskatoon photographers
I photographed this stylish family the day before the first major snowfall here in Saskatoon. Talk about great timing. We chose an urban location, which I absolutely love! I also have to mention how amazing the wardrobe choices are. Great job mom!

2 minute session - Saskatoon photographers
This is my parents with all of their grand-kids. We did this session in about 2 minutes since it was incredibly windy out that day, and my little guy needed a nap. While this shot isn't perfect, I love it so much because of the people in it:).

Saskatoon winter wedding - Saskatoon photographers
Winter weddings are so pretty, especially in Saskatchewan. Chilly, but so pretty. This one was in the middle of November, and I'm so thrilled there happened to be snow on the ground, because at this time of year, you just never know! The couple and wedding party were troupers. We had a fabulous day. Here is a not-so-small collection of their day...
